Connections That Save Lives

When you support Rosehedge/Multifaith Works, you help build families. You enable us to create meaningful connections that save lives.

As a young woman in 1995, Imani had earned her Masters Degree and gotten married. She and her husband were raising four beautiful children when civil war broke out in Africa, forcing the family into a refugee camp in Ghana. Tragically, her husband died within one year at the camp, leaving Imani to raise the kids alone. In 2000, they were granted asylum in the United States and moved to Seattle.

They arrived as refugees, with nothing. The International Rescue Committee helped Imani find housing and support for her children. And when she was diagnosed with HIV, they called Rosehedge/Multifaith Works.
Within one month, our CareTeam coordinators built a team of five volunteers to support Imani and her children. This CareTeam has now been a part of her family for ten years.

The CareTeam volunteers have assumed the role of grandparents to Imani’s children. They have celebrated birthdays, helped with homework, and attended school functions. Overwhelmed when the oldest son had to have his wisdom teeth removed, he stayed in the home of a CareTeam member for three days so he could fully recover while Imani cared for the other three children. When Imani’s health is poor, the CareTeam is there just as any other loving family would be.

Your support has given these children an extended family. You have given their mother the help she needs to raise them.  THANK YOU!
